We've made it our business to only stock ethically sourced beans with full traceability, which we purchase directly from African regions - Burundi, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania - from producers who treat their farmers well and compensate them fairly.

Meet Yumna - Company Director

My coffee journey started when a good friend introduced me to a Burundi coffee farmer. He was researching the markets for the sale and distribution of raw coffee beans to South Africa, to see if there was an opportunity for investment and seeking help to launch his business. I discovered that most African coffees (Burundi, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya) grown near the equator, at altitudes of 1500m to 2200m, inherently exhibit similar cupping profile.

When I tasted his coffee for the first time, I immediately fell in love. Never had I tasted a brew as crisp, clean and flavourful as this Burundi Premium. The deep, complex flavour was all the motivation I needed to step in to help promote, and sell, this exceptional Burundi coffee.

I helped source his ideal buyers in roasters, distributors and agents to purchase this uniquely processed coffee, called Fully Washed, Burundi Single Origin, Arabica Green Coffee Beans. And, Yeh Afrika was born.

We are a B-BBEE, Level One exempted micro-enterprise, that is 100% female black-owned. We only purchase and process a variety of ethically sourced, organically grown, single origin, Arabica, African beans. We process our coffee using a unique method called ‘Fully Washed Double Fermentation’ which delivers a clean, bright, fruity, floral, and medium-bodied profile. We work with a legendary master roaster in Cape Town, Anthony Swartz, to ensure our beans always offer maximum flavour. Besides premium African coffee, we also offer barista tool kits, barista training at our showroom in Cape Town, and the setting-up of your espresso machines.
