Company Profile : |
In 1929 Reuben Volpe borrowed £100 (R200) from an uncle to start his own business. Growing up on a farm and with only a grade 8 education, he had very little knowledge of business. But he believed in the importance of good values and common sense.
So in 1952 he started his own factory. This consisted of one cutter, two machinists and an ironing lady. Quality was now under tight control ensuring that the customer got the best.
In 1970 Reuben's son, Chuck, joined the business. On the first day he told Chuck that the most valuable asset in the business was not the building or the stock, but the name "Volpes". What he meant was, that the name "Volpes" symbolised the relationship of trust which had been built up with our customers over so many years.
