The Woodbender range of kitchen and bar stools, dining chairs, pedestals, tables and occasional chairs and couches combines the traditional art of woodbending with innovation in design and production. These high quality products are manufactured locally by specialists in the craft.

Charles Mast, the founder of Woodbender, started the company in 1988. It took a while to perfect the process, and he admits to taking 18 months to produce his first bentwood chair. Today, the bustling factory near Cape Town supplies quality bentwood furniture to restaurants, schools, bars and homes around South Africa and beyond our borders.

The founding members of the company continue to lead a dedicated staff of 26 skilled craftsmen, many of whom have been with Woodbender from the company's early years. The team of woodbenders, journeymen, upholsterers, assemblers and finishers are supported by a sales and marketing team who are able to offer clients prompt and efficient back-up service. The company is committed to service excellence and to meeting the customers' expectations.

Wood is a natural resource, and every tree will eventually die. When harvested at the right time, and lovingly worked, trees are reborn into furniture that can last hundreds of years.

Woodbender's process replaces much of the machining shaping with bending, thus keeping the impact on the ecology to a minimum.

Since steam bending requires solid, prime wood without knots, Woodbender only uses North American Ash and European Beechwood for furniture manufacture.

Woodbender have been manufacturing solid bentwood furniture for the past 20 years and in this time have become the preferred supplier to many leading restaurant franchise groups, as well as countless independant hotels, restaurants and guesthouses.
